There’s a ton of stuff happening this weekend and heading into the end of the month. We wanted to make sure we brought you some of the best, in our opinion. So take a look and check out what we came up with for this week’s top 10!

This 1-mile swim hosted by Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation at Richardson Ocean Park is designed for strong swimmers with strong swimming skills who can handle the sometimes rough course conditions, including currents and waves.

In its mission to foster community trust with youth, the Hawaiʻi Police Department is hosting a free, youth boxing event at the Thelma Parker Gym in Waimea this Saturday.

Vendor lineup highlights 60 businesses ‘rooted in purpose’ plus community organizations, cultural practitioners and grassroots initiatives that often collaborate with them behind the scenes.

The event will take place on July 19 at the Kona Country Club in Kailua-Kona. The registration deadline is Friday.

Hawai‘i County Parks and Recreation invites Big Island anglers to cast a few lines from Aug. 15-17 for a chance to win some great prizes and awards while enjoying their favorite pastime and family fun. 

The Big Island has you covered in abundance when it comes to festivities in observance of the patriotic holiday, from annual rodeo and horse races in Waimea to the main events — ‘rocket’s red glare’ and ‘bombs bursting in air’ during professional fireworks shows over Hilo Bay and Kailua Bay. The legacy of Hawaiian cowboys comes alive through exhilarating competitions and family-friendly festivities at the 61st Annual July 4 Rodeo and Horse Races at Parker Ranch this Friday.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of one of Kona’s most beloved traditions and come together as a community to celebrate freedom, island style.

Diversity and culture are on display in this week’s top 10 things to do on the Big Island, from the types of events and activities happening to the people and places they represent.

Kids ages 5 to 18 years old are eligible to show off their singing chops as part of a duet, group, band or individual during this free musical showcase and competition in collaboration with Grammy-nominated local musician LT Smooth, the Hearo Foundation and University of the Nations.

Entry at Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park will be free during the 64th annual Hawaiian Cultural Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The season will continue through Aug. 31, excluding Aug. 27-28, when the area will be closed for ungulate management operations.
