Win or lose, on and off the field — the Zander Fund impacts lives!
Team 54 scholarships have been awarded in many different sports, including baseball, hockey and synchronized ice skating. Each recipient has demonstrated unflappable positivity, team values and limitless potential in the face of challenge.
In the spirit of Zander, #54, we are honored to have assisted these team 54 All-Stars, a small sample, to boldly pursue their dreams:
H. was adopted by his parents as an infant from an orphanage in China. H. has endured multiple surgeries to fix birth defects. He never misses any team activities and is one of the hardest working kids in the program.
N’s father is disabled. Despite this, his father and N. have managed to attend every single practice and game. He is a great player and truly dedicated to the sport and his team.
J. is a remarkable young man and a former teammate of Zander’s. He has a single father that works nights. He is also one of the most talented players. Baseball and his teammates have become a big part of his life.
R. is another former teammate of Zander’s whose family has had their bout with medical issues and cost of treatment. R. has a bright future in the game, being named team MVP two years in a row. His parents have expressed how being a part of the team has been therapeutic for him.
