Waimea conservation priorities to be discussed in meeting next week
The Waimea community is invited to join neighboring farmers and ranchers for the Waimea Local Working Group meeting next Friday.
Local conservation districts convene Local Working Group meetings, which are open to the public, with support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.
During the meetings, Natural Resources Conservation Service gathers input from a diverse group of stakeholders with agricultural and environmental interests to help guide conservation priorities in local communities for the next year.
The Waimea meeting will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, at the Waimea Civic Center.
Registration for the meeting is encouraged but not required. For more information, email Nicole Fernandez at mkswcd@gmail.com.
Attendees with disabilities requiring special accommodations or alternative means of communication of program information (Braille, large print, audiotape, etc.) can contact Natural Resources Conservation Service compliance officer Karl Mikasa at 808-447-3121 or karl.mikasa@usda.gov for assistance.
Natural Resources Conservation Service provides one-on-one, personalized advice and financial assistance and works with producers to help them reach their goals through voluntary, incentive-based conservation programs.
To learn more about Natural Resources Conservation Service programs, producers can contact their local U.S.Department of Agriculture Service Center. Producers can also apply for programs, manage conservation plans and contracts, and view and print conservation maps with a farmers.gov account. Those interested in signing up for an account can do so at any time.
